Welcome to Design on a Shoe String! I’d like to share some of the new ideas we are seeing in design.

A strong South American direction is emerging as the economy is becoming stronger and more viable. We are seeing more hand-crafted pieces, embroidery, lace-work, and folk design. Shimmery gold, liquid silver, stainless steel, and bronze will be the popular metals that consumers desire. Camouflage and animal prints appear in clothing as well as fabrics and accent pieces.

The modern neutrals are still very popular: greens, black, white, and gray from charcoal to black. Blue in all its shades (teal, turquoise, cobalt, denim, and navy) will be seen everywhere. Brown is now considered the new black. Shadowy hues start showing up in cloudy whites, silvery gray, purple, and atmospheric blue. Keep your eye out because you will see these trends appear in many markets including clothing, car colors, and Interior Design.  - Benjamin Moore Color Pulse 2010
